4* 'Fifty Shades Didn't Write it Kickoff' Stars
ME: "Hey, this is but similar Fifty-Shades of Greyness!!"

You lot: "Noooo, seriously?!!"

ME: "Aye, really!!"

I know, I know… Information technology seems as if EVERY book these days is being compared to the Fifty phenomenon. But to me, Fifty is just recycled material and this book is all the same more proof. Romance authors take been writing about super sexy, powerful, rich billionaires with an obsessive streak for a 'mousy' heroine for YEARS! Tortured heroes? As well been done, done, and done. But somehow if y'all toss in more salty language, make the sex scenes a fleck more than 'kinky' (cough, cough **period sex **cough, cough), and ramp up the angst some people might believe it's brand-spanking (pun intended) new.

The romance suspense by Linda Howard Now You lot See Her was written x-years ago, and features a remarkably handsome gazillionaire Richard Worth obsessively falling for the innocent, mousy-but-sexy heroine Paris Sweeney. Kabam! I am talking HOT connection, insta' lust, and quivering body parts. Richard is well endowed, sleeping accommodation savvy, and merely has eyes for his heroine. (Sound familiar??)

Richard is separated from a adulterous married woman, and mourning the loss of their unborn kid. An ex-Army Ranger, he is not a man to mess with. The divorce proceedings all of a sudden get complicated speedily when he wants to 'fuck' (his word!) Sweeney At present. He is obsessed with having her. And she wants him likewise! But… non until he is a single human being who can offer her more than.

Sweeney has a special souvenir; she can see ghosts. After meeting Richard her paranormal gift manifests into her sleep walking and painting murder scenes of actual murders. Turns out Richard'south soon-to-be ex is pissing all kinds of people off, and (surprise, surprise! NOT) ends upwards murdered. And Sweeney has been slowly painting the death scene over the last several nights. Now someone wants to kill her! But not if Richard can help information technology. He volition protect his woman at all costs.

I won't tell you more than of the plot, but I can say the Fifty storyline is cipher new folks. There are of grade a lot plot differences equally well, but many of the main plot points are strikingly similar. And since many books with less similarities are existence compared, I retrieve nosotros also tin can besides throw this ane on that huge pile.

While Richard didn't desire to hurt Sweeney for his own pleasures, and at that place isn't any period sex activity (thank GOD!), information technology is hardly the first romance book to feature an obsessive and horny hot billionaire stalking/pursuing a sexy-but-mousy heroine who will resist him until it drives him mad with desire.

Just proverb, that's all. Your mileage may vary.

While this isn't my favorite Linda Howard book, information technology is a solid romance suspense classic. Several months ago I picked this up at an Audible sale knowing that it's hard to go incorrect with a volume by Linda Howard – and I was right. nine 1/2 listening hours well spent.

iii ane/ii Stars - Sweet Smexy Unproblematic Suspense

Well, it was entertaing and I'k not complaining; this is a sweet thrilling romance with a skilful crime plot. Not an astonishing great novel from Linda Howard merely undoubtedly expert enough.

**************************************

Manhattan, New York Urban center, U.Southward.

Paris Sweeney, or but Sweeney as she prefers, is a talented painter in her early thirties. Sweeney like to love alone, and don't want whatever human relationship, her artwork is her main interest. More than or less her just interest.

Our heroine has by at present achieved some sucess and her popular paintings sells at an exclusive New York City gallery owned by her friend, Candra Worth. ~ Candra is in the middle of an (ugly) divorce from the handsome millionaire Richard Worth. A man who run across something he likes and from now on has a very (intense) good eye for a special shy brown haired female person artist.

 photo image.jpg1_zpsu5lz296k.jpg

Every bit this isn't enough for a romance plot has Sweeney as well a strange new ability: she sees odd 'things". Traffic lights turn green when she approaches, her plants are in full bloom out of season and she could be a master winner in any quiz bear witness on Television receiver.

...Then one morning time is there a big new painting in Sweeney's art studio. Unquestionably a painting done past her. A painting she must have done in her sleep last night. Or!? Information technology is a nighttime scene with a expressionless homo lying on the ground. A man she knows. A man she cared for.

The audiobook edition and the narrator...
I listened to this quite new ix:thirty hrs unabridged audiobook edition narrated by Laurel Lefkow. I think Ms Lefkow did a good plenty task. I don't love her style e'er, she can exist too sweet and a piffling besides cute with a very gentle voice, simply she is a professional narrator and has a good feeling for the scenes in her reading.

**************************************

I usually similar Ms Howard's well written stories simply this suspense romance from 1998 felt a bit outdated. I'm actually not certain why.

I liked the smexy steam (hot, hot..). We become ii interesting characters and a lot of sweet moments, just I never fully took this couple to my center (as much as I wished I should). Was the hero too potent and 'difficult'? Or was the heroine too scared and (needy drooling) in love in the hero as well shortly? Were the others (villains) just too giddy clueless combined with some dumb plans?

Maybe was it in the stop simply also light and simple? — The romance part fell in place more or less immediately and the criminal offence plot was in a way resolved to like shooting fish in a barrel for my (old law-breaking fiction heart and..) taste. (view spoiler)[ Those last scenes...really? Should a hard bright homicide NY cop really belive their odd paranormal story and then like shooting fish in a barrel? (hide spoiler)]

 photo image.jpg1_zpsnhdg1aab.jpg

Too high expectations? Or just me?
There wasn't any huge happy dancing wow-moments. I hoped for a potent four raiting only concluded with an honorable bones three star. No deductions but not much extra points neither.

BUT...It is ever fun to visit New York again.

This grumpy erstwhile lady shall at present immediately go to bed. ...Did I forget to say that I actually liked this volume. Keen but not great.

He plant out during their marriage that his wife was cheating on him, but he tried to make their spousal relationship work. He felt his vows meant something. He eventually grew out of dear for her and grew to dislike her tremendously. He did choose to stay married to her and did continue to have sex with her only only using a safety because he still knew about her keep affairs. They get into a huge fight about 10 years married and the hero decides he just can't let that slide so he kicks her out and immediately divorces her. They have been separated for a year and she is giving him trouble with the divorce settlement. It is confirmed that he has not been with ANYONE AT ALL since his marriage to his ex. Menstruation. Particularly during the separation - he still feels similar he is legally married so it never felt correct AND he never constitute a woman who made him even want to. So on to intimate pasts:

Richard (hero): Married earlier and has been celibate for over a twelvemonth. Sweeney (heroine): I don't really know how long it's been for her, but Sweeney is a rare breed. She is very artsy and even says that for awhile she saw men as but being asexual beings. She did meet the hero a few times in the by while he was still married - not long conversations by any ways (His ex was her art dealer), merely even the hero mentions how she never NOTICED him like he noticed her. Non until he saw her again after this time, he finally realizes that she is actually seeing him and he doesn't desire to permit her go. He knows he would have something really special with Sweeney. She is an awesome heroine and a wonderful person. (hibernate spoiler)]

(hide spoiler)]

Push/pull: (view spoiler)[ Nope. The heroine is a tad resistant in the outset, but that makes the hero desire her more because he wouldn't have disgraced their relationship anyway by having sex with her while he was still technically married, but the fact that she felt the same way was refreshing to him (hide spoiler)]
OW/OM drama: (view spoiler)[ The hero'south ex DOES endeavor to crusade some drama, only more often than not because she wanted more out of the settlement and she was willing to use the heroine to become information technology - of course, it never came to that. Afterwards on, she does been to regret everything she did to the hero and how she f*cked up beyond repair. (hide spoiler)]

My review:

I but loved this volume. The hero was obsessed with the heroine subsequently seeing her once more and finally realizing that the looks he had been giving her were finally evident in her as well.

The fact that Sweeney could see ghosts and was a little clairvoyant was too a prissy change. I loved how this couple stayed strong despite things going on in their lives including tragedy. I loved how Richard accepted Sweeney the way she was and didn't once doubt her.

Such a pleasant read! I can't expect to read more by this author!

Very interesting read! Sweeney is an artist who has recently gained some psychic abilities through her fine art, equally well as some other perks. Richard is a former Army Ranger turned billionaire who is at the end of a nasty divorce to a adult female who has a small moral compass. All three combined forth with some interesting side characters made this a pretty exciting read.

Archetype Linda Howard! I honey this book.

Paris Sweeney who prefers to go by Sweeney is a talented painter, who is pretty content with her life in New York. Although things has been a footling weird in the last year, with her dreams becoming so brilliant and colourful it seems real and her sudden attraction to Richard Worth is too completely out of character for her.

And when information technology turns out the murder scenes she's of a sudden started painting in her slumber are real, Sweeney'southward life is changed forever. The only person she tin trust is Richard, whose desire threatens to consume them both. Tin they detect the killer earlier Sweeney is either convicted for the law-breaking or killed to silence?

It was a heady sensation, to know that he cared for her, that she was important to him. Sweeney couldn't call up ever beingness important to anyone before.

I dearest Sweeney and her social awkwardness, how she doesn't similar crowds and social niceties. It was also so cute how scatter-brained she could get when involved with her painting ;-) The fact that men were barely a bleep on her radar before and her confusion nigh her sudden need for Richard was also very funny ;-)

She made him grin. Hell, she fabricated him laugh. He had the feeling he could spend every day with her for twenty years and not know all of her quirks or exactly how her mind worked.

Richard was amazing and I loved how he was with Sweeney, how he's always been attracted to her but she never noticed until now. And he wasted no time whatsoever in making his move, adamant to brand her his.

He wanted her. In bed, out of bed, it didn't matter. If he couldn't coax her into a relationship and then he could seduce her, and so he would accept to seduce her in club to coax her into a relationship.

In typical Linda Howard fashion the romance was scorching and I loved them together, how he cared for her and tried to look out for her.

The suspense was fantabulous and very gripping with Sweeney painting pieces of the murder scene before it even happened and not knowing who was going to be killed and by whom. I loved the paranormal element of it and how information technology just added more than intrigue.

Linda Howard is one of my favorite authors and I only love all her older books. This is a must read for all RS fans!

'Coz I was really looking for some reading that would make me forget the outer world with the pandemic looming large and the lockdown adding to the mental stress, When Y'all Meet Her provided the much-needed amusement for a few hours.

Paris Sweeney is an creative person who has had some major changes in her painting style in the last year or so. The ghosts have of a sudden become articulate, traffic signals plough green ever and the plants are blooming in record time. Of class, I wouldn't heed the red to green traffic indicate ability, well, who wouldn't?? Sweeney is level-headed plenty to accept these quirks simply all hell breaks loose when she begins sleep-walking and painting, or rather slumber-painting. And the recreating of the images of bloody murder is giving her shocks that is reducing her to a totally helpless land and information technology is only Richard'southward presence and his timely help that is preventing the hypothermic addled state of mind.

The story moves at a fast stride with a few twists and turns added but what I loved all-time about the book is the barrack between Sweeney and Richard and likewise the high moral stand up that Sweeney adopts to not fall and then easily for Richard and it is this sexual tension that makes this a very enticing read.

Despite existence published in 1998 with a cell telephone no less, it had a 1970s vibe as in The Eyes of Laura Mars an equally implausible, even tackier, merely incredibly fun movie about a psychic photographer. Plus it has a very young Tommy Lee Jones and Raul Julia for some unconventional but even so charming eye processed .

I was a lilliputian disappointed in the identity of the evil doers as I had my center on someone else as well as the lack of build up, stalking and inevitable end, only at least the hero's manly Rico Suave ways stopped her blue lips and hand shaking shivering.

I believe Linda Howard is ane of those authors that is successful because of her heroes. The romance and suspense could exist good only to me, what 'sells' her stories, are the male characters. You are going to love them or you are not. Alpha-dripping, domineering protective/obsessive, possible cave-man mental attitude men who dear the heroine and are not afraid to evidence it. And if y'all can dearest the hero, you will accept the heroine.

Paris 'Sweeney', amidst other things, started seeing ghosts a year ago. (view spoiler)[I never read the actual reason why this happened and then I just 'suspended my disbelief' and went with the period. (hide spoiler)] She was an creative person and composed pictures and so she could lose herself in the colors. Shades, hues, pigments and intensity were earth-shaking to her well-being. At the same time, when her life started to alter, her method of painting took on a new twist. In some ways surreal, in other means very realistic; no matter what, it was an improvement to her already beautiful paintings.

Richard Worth was on the tail end of divorcing his wife, Candra, whom ran the gallery where Sweeney sold her art. They were literally days abroad from signing the papers. He had legitimate reasons; they had been separated for a year but the love was gone long ago. He had met Sweeney on iv other occasions and there was something about her that engaged him. Only Sweeney barely noticed him.

She was an odd duck. Non quite centered, she had problems with social interaction. When she was working on her art, information technology transcended fourth dimension. At 31 years of age, she never had a serious relationship and it could probably be said that it was because of her brutal honesty. About everything. But unlike so many others, Richard appreciated it.

There is a menagerie of secondary characters that unsettle the romance. Candra, whom could be every bit sweet as sugar or rotten as a bad apple. Kai, her banana, came across as vain, shallow and non afraid to mow someone downwards if it suited his purpose. Carson and Margo McMillan, were the shady politician and his snooty married woman. The bodily suspenseful function was not hard to figure out.

The narrative was somewhat far-fetched. I had some minor quibbles with the actual plot but that was my trouble. Just I liked Richard. He'd been dealt a bad manus when he married Candra and, for some unknown reason, I accepted his relationship with Sweeney. Or Sweetie, as Richard called her.

This was an enjoyable romantic suspense by LH. Although this was written in the tardily 90s and the hero is hot and highly masculine, he never has a giant ass moment (or a dozen) in the chiliad tradition of some of her early heroes. I'll be honest and admit I enjoy some of her former school asshat heroes in the vein of After the Night, but that didn't detract from my enjoyment.

There were paranormal elements, although I wouldn't call it pnr in the traditional sense. Anybody is human, but the heroine has some psychic abilities that move the plot along. Amid other things, Sweeney sees ghosts and develops a "talent" for painting murder scenes in her sleep. She is, in some ways, a typical LH heroine if a flake on the quirky side of the spectrum. She's a talented and somewhat eccentric artist, determined to focus on her work and not alive the hedonistic life her neglectful parents lead. While not a quivering virgin, she is past no ways promiscuous.

I wouldn't say that the mystery was all that mysterious. Nearly readers will pinpoint the main victim within a chapter or two. Yet, I still enjoyed information technology for the romance and paranormal elements.

(view spoiler)[ I was a bit surprised that Sweeney did not encounter Candra's ghost. I sort of hoped for her to have a flake of an epiphany in the afterlife. I idea LH did a expert job of writing her as a very flawed character who was all the same tragic. I didn't run into her as the cardboard cutout OW. Many volition unreservedly hate her for what she did to cause her divorce from the H, simply I felt pitiful for her on some level. She caused her own downfall, no question, nonetheless she had then much potential. She was a very lost character, who could never quite grasp what was important until she lost information technology and, fifty-fifty and so, never had the epiphany that could have saved her. (You know which shades I'thou talking about correct?) And that's what fabricated me autumn in honey with both these characters.

Richard isn't typical, he doesn't show off his money power, well not effectually Sweeney. He is caring, charming and patient with Sweeney. I felt their romance was rushed simply everything else was just perfect for me.

Sweeney was annoying at times just she was better than many typical heroines so I will give her that much. Things started getting awry when she started seeing ghosts. But they got beyond seriously f***ed up when she started sleep-painting the murders without even witnessing them. Aye murders. You heard, sorry read it right. Yup it was exciting.

The twists weren't surprising, maybe I have read too much thriller or mystery that zippo shocks me anymore. It didn't bother me anyways. I was hooked on the book and the characters from commencement to stop.

I admired Richard'southward patience and understanding. All the heroes in Linda Howard'southward books are unworldly good, swooney and unreal to some extent but I will rather adopt them considering they treat their girls right rather than those who are hateful and jerks.

It wasn't my favorite read by Linda Howard just it's 1 of those where I liked both characters and loved the sexual tension between them. Would have been much better if the story had been a piddling slow paced to enjoy more of both of the protagonists.

Linda Howard e'er strikes me every bit an author with potential. I've read maybe 7 or 8 of her books and I've quite liked them all, only in each example couldn't help thinking 'this would exist meliorate if....'.

There take only been 2 of her books which I have no reservations about. Veil of Night and this i. This book centers effectually Paris, an creative person who has strange psychic abilities. When she approaches a red light, information technology turns dark-green. Her potted plants thrive regardless of how she treats them. She knows the answers on Jeopardy as the questions are being asked and she sees ghosts. Now a new disturbing ability is starting to manifest itself, she is getting upward in the center of the nighttime and painting a murder scenes. The question is, tin can she finish the painting earlier the murderer makes sure she never finishes it?

The characters in this volume are really well developed. I establish myself loathing someone ane minute then feeling sympathy for them the next. Information technology's been a problem in some of her other books that the villains accept been about a cartoonish caricature of what a villain should wait like. It'south not a trouble in this book.

Richard was certainly an alpha, his business concern and protectiveness towards Sweeney was commendable. I loved both of them.
The story was written very realistically and suspense aspect was done well. Some scenes were spooky and there was some twists I wasn't expecting.

It likewise helped that heroine refused to have relationship with hero until after he is divorced. Though hero was an estranged hubby for more than than a twelvemonth and his married woman cheated on him repeatedly.
The characters all had different shades, even the murderer so it added more complexity to the story. I needed a long epilogue..still I was satisfied with the ending.
Recommended.

The volume was full of cliches. The heroine was a forgetful artist who doesn't know she'due south hot (rolls eyes), the hero was a the former Army Ranger turned stockbroker (I mean, really), the cheating/nymphomaniac wife; the snobbish politicians. Given the hero's character and personality, there'due south NO Style he would have tolerated his wife cheating on him left and correct or let the issue of the divorce last for so long when he had all the cards.

And allow'southward non talk virtually Sweeny'due south powers, which didn't make sense at all. She could encounter ghosts, guess the answers in Jeopardy (!), change the traffic lights to green as she approached, get parking spaces right in front end of where she was going, getting her plants to bloom and finally, paint murders of people after they happened. The reason for the unrelated skillz was then she could evidence to the police she was a psychic once they got hold of her paintings showing the scenes of the crime. Too that, at that place was really not betoken to them.

The relationship was so out there with Richard running to Sweeny'southward house to "warm" her (and not in a good way) when she had an "episode" (which most gave her virtually hypothermia). That got former so fast!

There are so many expert books out there. Don't waste your time with this ane.
